Irini received her B.Sc. in Mathematics from Indiana University Bloomington, and her Master's in Applied Statistics from Michigan State University. She started the Math Education PhD program in 2005. Irini was a research assistant on the KAT (Knowledge of Algebra for Teaching) project and on the TEDS-M (Teacher Education and Development Study in Mathematics) project. She also taught mathematics content courses for prospective elementary teachers in the Department of Mathematics at MSU, namely MTH 201 and MTH 202. Her main interests are in probability and statistics education including the learning and understanding of probability and statistics concepts by secondary students and teacher preparation specific to probability and statistics.
